We are now moving toward the energy and vibration of the year 2012. It is important to go through a process called “Seven Steps for Moving into the New Year. Journaling is a very important part of the releasing process.

Step One — Let’s begin by answering these questions:

1. What are you thankful for regarding this year?
2. What did the year give you?
3. How has this year been important in your life?

By taking this action you are letting go of the old and making room for new possibilities to come into your life.”

Why is the gratitude step important in our release work?

Gratitude lifts our eyes from what feels wrong, to what is right!  Practice this: when you are feeling down about something or someone, begin saying “Thank You, God, for…” and fill in with good qualities about the person or situation.  Notice how you begin to feel uplifted, and can see and breathe more clearly!  There is a safety and peace when we are in a state of gratitude!

Gratitude helps us acknowledge positive experiences in our life, so that we are not missing out on what we have desired, which is manifest right now! How much do we want to give a child who is not grateful for what she has? Not much! We block ourselves from future blessings when we forget to be grateful for what we have presently. Gratitude opens us to new opportunities for more gratitude!

Gratitude allows us to acknowledge that there is something bigger at work in and through us each day. By giving thanks, we are reminding ourselves to cooperate with the energy of our souls.

For nearly two decades, Jane Elizabeth has led us through her Seven Steps for Embracing the New Year process, and this year is no different!  This week, we begin with the first step, “Gratitude.”  Journal the questions above in love and appreciation for 2011!  For a real treat, watch Jane Elizabeth’s video presentation on this first step from last year!
