Change

Welcome to the Self Study Lesson on Change. There are several lessons on this topic below. Take as long as you want on each lesson, focusing on the action step at the end.  Then, go to the next lesson.

Lesson 1: Embracing Change

Q: How can I deal with change?

A: Remember that change is inevitable. Life is an adventure in change. The more you resist change, the harder it is to move forward. Every time you get comfortable with your life, you are given new opportunities.

Q: Why should I embrace change?

A: Changes arise every day to help make you stronger, moving you out of old patterns that have kept you stuck. You develop important skills that support you in your enlightenment. Embrace the changes and use them to move forward in consciousness.

Q: I am noticing subtle changes in me. What is going on?

A: You’re developing, expanding awareness is showing your world to you in a new way. You might need to let go of some of your old ideas and start to develop new ways of thinking.

Action Step:

Choose an affirmation or empowering word that you can use to keep yourself focused on your new unlimited idea of you!

Lesson 2: The Courage to Change

Q: Why do I fear change sometimes?

A: Because you are afraid of the unknown. Dealing with your fears of the unknown is very important. Change may bring about conditions that seem unfamiliar and uncomfortable. Yet, change is necessary to move forward.

Action step:

Journal about your fears. Forgive yourself for holding limited ideas of who you are “supposed to” be. Let go of that former, limited idea of yourself. This can help you through change into a transformation from the old you into a more expansive expression of your real self.

Lesson 3: Observing Yourself in Change

Q: How does change get me unstuck?

A: By observing yourself you will understand what you are afraid of about change. Write down what you are observing. This action is important in order to recognize those things that are keeping you stuck.

Q:  What can I do to recognize my old patterns?

A:  It helps to stand back and observe yourself.  You can’t untangle something when you are stuck in the middle of it.

Q: Sometimes I will make a change and find that I’m reverting back to an old habit.  What do I do?

A: Whenever you make a commitment to change, you become aware of your old habits. This activity of the Higher Self gives you an opportunity to address them.

Action Step:

Watch this video, then journal your responses to the questions below. Feel free to share your insights with me, or with a spiritual friend on the path with you. Remember that your most important connection is the one within you.

1) How might becoming the active observer of your emotional states help you stay out of the drama of life?

2) What is a “comfort zone”? Why is it important to let it go? What might you gain from doing so? Identify some of yours.

Lesson 4: Change Can Make You Stronger

Q: How can I understand the changes I am experiencing?

A: Life is all about change.  HOW you handle the changes can make you stronger than you ever could have imagined.  Journal about those emotions.

Q: How can change make you stronger?

A: I’ve had my world tipped over so very many times and every time I’ve had it tipped over, I’ve come out stronger and more capable of handling things–wiser, more resilient, and more determined.

Every time that you have to face a change in your life and grab hold of that change–and you don’t let it drag you down–it builds you up. It changes you. You can’t be the same person with the same consciousness.

Action Step:

Changes arise every day to help make you stronger, moving you out of old patterns that have kept you stuck. You develop important spiritual skills that continue to support you in the awakening of your consciousness.

Embrace the changes–and the emotional pain that sometimes comes with them–and use it to move yourself forward in consciousness. You are the center of your own enlightenment!
